Results Champion?: NO

In terms of overall outcomes, New Hampshire performs superbly. In education, public safety, and health the Granite State leads the way. The state also has a strong economy and a clean environment. The state also has low tax burden and very low levels of child and adult poverty.

The state has below average outcomes measures in government for several reasons. First, the state has one of the most unfunded public pension systems in the nation. Further, New Hampshire lags in government transparency, use of technology and availability of open data for its citizens.

Recommendations
New Hampshire should improve its public pension system. After this, creating a more modern face of government by improving New Hampshire’s technology use will make this high performing state even better.
