Wyoming’s outcomes are above average or better in most areas. The state is 6th in the number of 2-year degrees per capita, is business friendly, has low rates of unemployment, and has solid rates of new business growth. Wyoming is also very environmentally sound, especially in water quality (3rd in the nation). Overall, the state ranks 8th in public safety, most notably in the rate of violent crimes.

Despite having the best outcomes in the country for amount of state debt, tax burden, and credit rating, Wyoming rank 45th in government measures. This is largely due to the size of its government and amount of federal aid. This federal dependence is linked to the amount of federal land and national parks in the state. However, the size of the government in Wyoming implies that is only one factor in the issue.

Recommendations
Wyoming is 3rd best state in the union in terms of all measures. The only area to make great improvement is in the size of government and dependence on federal aid. Since the dependence issue is tied to the vast acres of federal land in Wyoming, this may be neigh impossible to change. Other areas to focus improvement include: economic diversity, GDP and job growth, and traffic fatalities.
